About Mariella Danspeckgruber

I am energetic, creative, and dedicated.

A little Background:

I was born and raised in the US with French as my first language. I then learned English and German simultaneously resulting in a confused yet multilingual child. I chose to go to the University of St Andrews over and American university due to its Sustainable Development program and cultural diversity.

While attending the University of St Andrews, I co-founded the Sustainable Development society, and helped organize numerous charity events. Throughout the summers I gained experiences in the NGO, political and alternative energy industries. I interned in New York at the United Nations World Federalist Movement and a Parisian-based alternative energy investment fund, Eolfi which is a part of Veolia. I also assisted in conferences hosted by the Princeton University Lichtenstein Institute of Self-determination focusing on the reconstruction of Afghanistan and its relations with surrounding territories. Must recently I was chosen to participate in a research project for the Scottish Government on the future of sustainable communities throughout Scotland.

How I work best:

I am at my best when working with people to solve a complex problem. I care most about cultural values, societal trends, and sustainability. With a useful yet broad degree in sustainable development I am looking to further define my specific 'specialty'. I am not an engineer or an environmental scientist, I care more about how we can help government and business institutions adopt principles of sustainability without changing their purposes.
