About Chike Nweke
Education Loughborough University 2003 – 2008 Modules Include: Concepts of Chemical Product Design, Professional Development Project, Design Case Study Analytical and Modelling Practice, Applied Heterogeneous Catalysis, Process Economics and Design Optimisation and Individual & Team Process Design. Final Year Research Design Project – Biofuel Design for the United Kingdom My final year design project was on the best environmentally friendly energy for the UK market and the process by which it would be manufactured. My design team was required to produce a technical and economic report on the best renewable energy for the UK market taking into account the current needs and those which are likely to be significant in the medium and long term. Extensive research and designs carried out on various renewable energy sources and methods used by it. A Biodiesel plant was chosen and a plant for its production was designed to satisfy a portion of the UK energy sector. Work Experience Technical Simulation Consultants Limited – Intern Test Engineer September 2005 – August 2006 TSC Simulation is a specialist consultancy firm who develop and design software for the specific needs of the petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries. I achieved my diploma in industrial studies during this period, my duties including assisting in the teams involved in development of software models including ones for BP, Exxon Mobil and GlaxoSmithKline. My duties here varied according to the model I was working on but included mainly: • Testing of Company’s Products in chemical engineering principles • Ensuring mass and heat balances were accurate in customer models • Developing process flow diagrams from customer supplied PI&Ds Technical Simulation Consultants Limited - Professional Development Project Engineer February 2007 – September 2007 A formative part of my degree which was written up and presented; My project was on the quality control and consistency checks on the company’s 64 generic process software models and development of procedures and practices to ensure consistency and quality control of future software models. These models included Basic Control Principles and Basic Plant Systems such as basic PID control, flow and pressure control, valve characteristics and separation trains and advanced two stage compressor models. I achieved a grade of 69% on this project and on both occasions with TSC, my working contract was extended. Positions of Responsibility • Chosen representative for the chemical engineering department during university open days and helped in the organisation of open days, campus tours and answered questions from prospective students • Fresher helper where I was put in a team designed to help freshman orientations and support activities • Part of Loughborough Students’ Union Election Squad 2008 where I helped in ensuring Proper voting procedures where implemented at ballot box stations for university elections • Involved in organising events such as Cancer Research Race for Life
