About BP

Our business is the exploration, production, refining, marketing, trading and distribution of energy, and we do it on a phenomenal scale. We own or part-own 17 refineries around the world, operate tens of thousands of miles of pipelines and run a fleet of more than 80 ships. We produce about 4 million barrels of oil equivalent per day and own world-leading brands, such as BP, Amoco, Aral and Castrol serving millions of customers each day. And in recent years, we’ve made profits of over $20 billion a year.

Why work here

We aim to meet a growing global demand for energy without compromising the planet. So we’re going further to discover new reserves, produce cleaner fuels and develop new energies, and we’re investing in the technology and the people to do it. Every year we commit more than $1 billion to technology that is shaping the future of the industry; and every year we hire 750 graduates and interns globally to become the managers and technical experts of the future.

We recruit into three key disciplines – Engineering, Science or Business. Within each of these, there is a wide range of opportunities - from chemical engineering to geoscience, chemistry to finance, trading to drilling and completions engineering. Whether you’re based in Exploration & Production, Refining & Marketing, or within our corporate team, you will find the same support and encouragement to achieve new professional heights – and beyond.

There are many benefits to joining BP. Individual schemes may vary, but every graduate and intern will be given a competitive salary and benefits package as well as the training, support and opportunities to develop their skills and grow their career. There are many different career paths, and with more than 97,000 people, there is a wide range of opportunities.

The Ultimate Field Trip 2010

Compete to win a place on the Ultimate Field Trip 2010

BP operates at the frontiers of geography and technology. We want to give you

the chance to experience what we do fi rst hand.

The Ultimate Field Trip 2010 is a team competition where the winners will get

the chance to spend six to eight weeks on a paid internship with our operations

in the North Sea; opportunities include visiting one of our offshore platforms, an

overseas trip to Norway and our 3D visualisation centre in Aberdeen, Scotland.

How to take part

The 2010 competition refl ects BP’s 100 year heritage of innovation in science

and technology. We’re setting a real-life challenge that is currently being debated

widely; CO2 emissions.

BP accepts the fi ndings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

that global warming is unequivocal and ‘very likely’ due to human activity.

We’re working hard on solutions to this problem.

This competition gives you the chance to study the issues and come up with

new ideas about how to reduce or eliminate CO2 emissions from gas-fi red

power stations. We want you to use your imagination – we’ll be looking for

innovative thinking.

To take part, you’ll need to get a team of three people together, register on our

website bp.com/fi eldtrip and we’ll send you an email to confi rm what to do next

and how to submit your entry.

If you get through the fi rst round, you’ll take part in a regional semi-fi nal.

From this we’ll choose the best teams to go through to the grand fi nal in London,

where industry leaders will judge the entries.
